62d Tank Bn, 10th Inf Div 62d Armor Bn Unit Crest LINEAGE AND HONORS Constituted 13 January 1941 in the Regular Army as 2d Battalion, 3d Armored Regiment (Light) and assigned to the 3d Armored Division. Activated 15 April 1941 at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana. Redesignated 8 May 1941 as 2d Battalion, 33d Armored Regiment. Inactivated 10 November 1945 in Germany. Disbanded 7 July 1947. Reconstituted 28 May 1948 in the Regular Army as the 62d Heavy Tank Battalion. Assigned to the 10th Infantry Division, 18 June 1948. Activated 1 July 1948 at Fort Riley, Kansas. Redesignated 15 June 1954 as the 62d Tank Battalion. Inactivated 7 July 1957 in Germany. Green and white were the colors of the World War II Armored Force: the border has been made yellow for Armor. The thirty-three roundels indicate the numerical designation of the parent unit.
